Wonderland Dyeworks about me indie dyer

The Magical Life of a Hand Dyer

My connection to the creative arts began in childhood when I would spend summers learning to crochet and needlepoint, and later sew, knit and quilt. As an adult, my introduction to the wonderful art of wet felting cemented this connection to and love of fiber and I quickly expanded to experimenting with all other fiber art forms.

Yearning for rich, saturated color, I soon began to dye my own yarn and fibers for use in my work, which led to the creation of my hand dyeing business, Wonderland Dyeworks.

Everything about the dyeing process delights me! From mixing primary colors into complex custom colors to witnessing the transformation as the colors combine and emerge as deep, rich hues — participating in a tradition that has been passed down through the ages is truly magical.

Wonderland Dyeworks developed from my deep-rooted connection and commitment to continuing traditional fiber art forms such as spinning, weaving, knitting and felting and the desire to offer fiber communities unique and rich color palettes. My small fiber arts business specializes in high quality hand dyed yarns, roving and other fiber goodies.

Created in my San Francisco Bay Area studio, each of my small batch, hand dyed yarns and fibers are original works of art. My custom mixed dye palettes tend toward the rich, saturated variety to tempt and inspire the creative impulses of fabulous fiber communities worldwide.

Thanks for supporting indie hand dyers!
